The SolarSheat 1500GS uses heat energy from the sun that would normally strike the roof or exterior wall, to heat your home. Each 1500GS can heat a room up to 1,000 sq-ft (92 sq. meters) (depending on heat loss and solar gain).
Depending on the size of the solar air heating system you buy, you can expect to save 400 $ CAD to 1000 $ CAD per year in heating fuel costs. If heating fuel prices goes up, you can expect save even more per year. Depending on your installation and location, payback periods range from 3 to 6 years. The big plus to purchasing a solar air heating system is that costs essentially nothing to run ($2-$3/year in electricity to run its fan unit). Even if you were to buy a more efficient natural gas or fuel oil heating system, you still have to constantly feed it fuel. With solar air heating systems, the fuel is free – it’s sunshine.
Solar air heating systems can be installed either on a southern facing roof or wall. How it works ?
The Solar Furnace is a turn key solar heating, ventilation and domestic hot water solution. It can provide whole house heating, ventilation and hot water supply for a home from 0-3000 sq ft. The system works by providing fresh solar air ventilation to an integrated HRV inside the solar hydronics furnace with solar hot water and an on demand tankless hot water* system.
This efficient combination delivers effective solar heating (up to 50 000 BTU/hr solar energy) and natural gas or propane whole home heating system. Radiant floor and swimming options can be added to the system as well. The hybrid heating system can reduce your heating and electricity bills (ECM motor in furnace standard). It can provide savings from 20% up to 60%.
