The SolarSheat 1500GS uses heat energy from the sun that would normally strike the roof or exterior wall, to heat your home. Each 1500GS can heat a room up to 1,000 sq-ft (92 sq. meters) (depending on heat loss and solar gain).

Depending on the size of the solar air heating system you buy, you can expect to save 400 $ CAD to 1000 $ CAD per year in heating fuel costs. If heating fuel prices goes up, you can expect save even more per year. Depending on your installation and location, payback periods range from 3 to 6 years. The big plus to purchasing a solar air heating system is that costs essentially nothing to run ($2-$3/year in electricity to run its fan unit). Even if you were to buy a more efficient natural gas or fuel oil heating system, you still have to constantly feed it fuel. With solar air heating systems, the fuel is free – it’s sunshine.

Solar air heating systems can be installed either on a southern facing roof or wall. If the system is installed on a roof, it is recommended to tilt the solar module up at
an angle 15 degrees greater than the latitude of your home. Positioning the module this way optimizes your solar heating system to produce as much heat as possible during the middle of winter.

Most homes still need a heating system to turn on occasionally during the day tokeep the home at a minimal temperature. Solar air heating systems do that at noadditional fuel expense. Since solar air heating systems heat up the home during theday, the thermal mass of your home will keep it warm potentially several hours into the night.

time for their heating system to get the home up to a comfortable temperature Solar air heating systems only heat during the day when the sun’s shining on
them, though they can produce heat in overcast conditions as well. They do not produce heat during the night time. However, heat generated by the solar air heating system during the day is stored by the thermal mass of the home.

This can keep the home warm for several hours after the sun has gone down depending on how well your home is insulated, the thermal mass of your home and how big of a
solar air heating system you have compared to the square footage of your home
being heated. Leaving the solar air heating system on a high temperature during the day will cause your home to heat up during the day.

The thermal mass of your home will carry this heat for several hours into the night. How long the heat will be preserved
in your home depends on how well your home is insulated, if the solar air heating
system is over or undersized for your home and the thermal mass in your home.Solar air heating systems should be viewed as a way of greatly reducing the demand on your primary heating system. It work on cloudy days. The panels will not reach a high enough temperature to pose any fire hazard.

How it works ?

The Solar Furnace is a turn key solar heating, ventilation and domestic hot water solution. It can provide whole house heating, ventilation and hot water supply for a home from 0-3000 sq ft. The system works by providing fresh solar air ventilation to an integrated HRV inside the solar hydronics furnace with solar hot water and an on demand tankless hot water* system.

This efficient combination delivers effective solar heating (up to 50 000 BTU/hr solar energy) and natural gas or propane whole home heating system. Radiant floor and swimming options can be added to the system as well. The hybrid heating system can reduce your heating and electricity bills (ECM motor in furnace standard). It can provide savings from 20% up to 60%.
